Q. What is a Sunrise Registration Period?
A: Prior to the General Registration Period, the dotmobi registry has set aside an exclusive period when owners of intellectual property, ? such as Trademark holders ? have the opportunity to register desired names. The dotmobi registry provides this service as a protection for intellectual property owners and refers to it as the Sunrise Registration Period.

Q. Who can register a domain name during the Sunrise Registration Period?
A: Only individuals, businesses, or organizations who are qualified Trademarks holders may register their domain names during the Sunrise Registration Period.

Q. What makes a Trademark owner “qualified” for purposes of the Sunrise Registration Period?
A: Anyone who holds a Trademark or Service mark applied for prior to July 11, 2005 , and granted before the date of the domain name application is considered a qualified Trademark owner.

Q. What are valid characters for a dotmobi domain name?
A: dotmobi domain name valid characters include the following: letters A through Z (English language), digits 0 through 9, and hyphens (but not at the beginning or end of a domain name). Spaces and other characters are not acceptable [including !, @, #, $, %, &, *, (, )].

Q. What about non-English language characters?
A: dotmobi intends to support Internationalised Domain Names (IDN)s in the future. IDNs are domain names that are represented by native language, non-ASCII characters, such as köppel.mobi. (In this example, the native language name is followed by the Top Level Domain name). More Information will follow when available.

Q. Will mTLD check the validity of Trademark documentation during the Sunrise Registration Period?
A: It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure the application is complete and accurate. The validity of Trademark documents and other required documentation may be randomly checked by mTLD during the Sunrise Registration Period. Should irregularities be discovered, mTLD reserves the right to cancel any applications that do not meet eligibility criteria.

Q. If I register a .mobi domain name during the Sunrise Registration Period, can the general public review it?
A: Any domain names registered during the Sunrise Registration Period will be publicly available for review through the .mobi WHOIS service.

Q. What is WHOIS?
A: As the name implies, WHOIS databases keep track of everyone “who is” registered in all domains. While there exists a central WHOIS database, typically registrars of domain names also maintain their own WHOIS databases. For dotmobi domain names, the WHOIS database will be available soon.

Q. If I register a domain during the Sunrise Registration Period and there is a dispute, what process do I follow? A: Disputes over domains registered during the Sunrise Registration Period may be settled during the Sunrise Challenge Period. The process is described in detail in the dotmobi Sunrise Challenge Rules and Sunrise Challenge Policies .

Q. What is the Sunrise Challenge Period?
A: The Sunrise Challenge Period is a specified length of time following the end of the Sunrise Registration Period during which challenges may be lodged against the awarding of domain names. This period begins Monday, 28 August 2006 , and ends Friday, 15 December 2006 .

Follow ICANN's Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) for challenges involving names registered during the Landrush and General Registration periods.

Q. If I register a dotmobi domain name during the Sunrise Registration Period, how long must I wait before I can transfer it?
A: For domain names registered during the Sunrise Registration Period, transfers between dotmobi-accredited registrars will be permitted shortly after the Sunrise Challenge Period ends. If there is a challenge to a domain name, however, a transfer cannot be done until the challenge is resolved.
